2018-19 ( Term 1 + 2 ) PY6319 Psychology of Belief and PY6320 Anomalistic Psychology
Welcome to module PY6320 (term 1 only) or module PY6319 (term 1 and 2).
Term 1 will cover a range of topics under the broad heading of anomalistic psychology: brief history, development of paranormal beliefs, complimentary and alternative medicine, parapsychology, factors underlying paranormal belief, sleep phenomena, false memories, hypnotism, etc.
The assessment will be:
(1) a coursework essay due at the end of term 1
(2) a series of four online time-constrained MCQs, each covering 2-3 lectures
Term 2 will look at politics, religion, moral values, embodied belief, sociality of belief, conspiracy theories, fake news, radicalism, and beliefs about happiness.
The assessment in term 2 will be the same as in term 1.
All of the lectures will be recorded.
