2018-19 (Term 1) EC5003 Financial Economics

This module considers the main theoretical and applied aspects of the finance discipline. The main aim is to deepen the student’s understanding of the workings of national and international capital markets and the interaction between such markets and economic units, such as households, firms, financial institutions and governments. This module will help the students understand the design and operation of financial systems (which include financial intermediaries and markets), structures and instruments and, in particular, to understand the pricing of financial assets, the measurement and management of risk, and the possibilities for optimising the behaviours of firms, financial institutions and individuals.
