2018-19 (Term 2) PS6014 Introduction to Counselling (OC)
The aim of the module is to advance students’ academic and applied understanding of Counselling and psychodynamic models of counseling and psychotherapy.
We aim to develop self-awareness of our relations with others, a necessary development for counseling skills. To further knowledge of counseling and psychodynamic counseling we will go into further depth in regards to theory and its application to practice, which will involve an exploration of Anglo-American and French psychodynamic thinking, and the different ways of working within the therapeutic relationship. We will look at Cultural differences and Psychotherapy.
There will be an emphasis on theory and praxis.
